What is Passport 2 College all about?
DeVry University's Passport 2 College program offers you the opportunity to participate in a college course with other high school students while gaining college credit. Through the program, you can explore an area you might be thinking about for a college major; meet other students from greater Houston high schools that share you area of interest; obtain tuition-free college credit and experience DeVry University, a nationally recognized college near your own neighborhood!

DeVry University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association. Therefore, credit earned through Summer Scholars may be transferable to other colleges and universities.

Schedule:
All classes begin on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 9am. Although class schedules vary due to credit hour requirements, students can expect to be in class 3 or 4 days a week. Classes end Thursday, June 27, 2008.
Important:
Tuition is free for those who qualify; however, students are responsible for the cost of their books, personal supplies and transportation.
Who Qualifies?
Passport 2 College applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the program:
- Have your junior year of high school completed by the summer of 2008 (or age equivalent for home school students)
- Achieving a cumulative 2.7 (or equivalent) or better GPA on a 4.0 scale, verifiable by last report card and/or transcripts
All portions of the aforementioned criteria must be completed and received by Community Outreach by Wednesday, May 14, 2008.

BUSN 115- Introduction to Business and Technology
This course introduces business and the environments in which businesses operate. Students examine the roles of major functional areas of business and interrelationships among them. Organizational theories and techniques are examined, and economic, cultural, political and technological factors affecting business organizations are evaluated. 3-3

PSYCH 110- Psychology
This course provides a foundation for understanding, predicting and directing behavior. Organized within a framework encompassing foundations, general topics and applications, the course provides an understanding of how psychological principles and concepts relate to professional and personal life. Topics include learning, attitude formation, personality, social influence, dynamics of communication, conflict resolution, motivation, leadership, and group roles and processes. 3-3

COMP 129-PC Hardware and Software with Lab
This course explores the PC system from software, hardware, and operating system points of view. Hardware topics includes systems boards, processor, memory, power supplies, input/output (I/O) ports, internal adapters, printers, and basic networking devices. Software topics include client/server operating systems and installation, as well licensing software applications. ed. 3-3

COMP 100-Computer Applications for Business with Lab
This course introduces basic concepts and principles underlying personal productivity tools widely used in business such as word processor, spreadsheets, e-mail and Web browsers. Students also learn basic computer terminology and concepts. Hands-on exercises provide students with experience in use of PC's and current productivity tools.
